Discover the language of leaves

Join Pathways for a Free Community Plant Walk, where we connect with nature and rediscover ancient wisdom. This is an invitation to explore the land beneath our feet and learn about the healing power of plants. All are welcome.

"Gunalchéesh (Thank you) for walking this path with me."

Connecting with earth's wisdom

At Pathways, we believe the wisdom of the Earth belongs to the community. These free walks are offered because the first step to 'Whole Health' is simply remembering how to listen to the land beneath our feet. This walk is our way of opening the door—a chance for us to gather as neighbors, share the 'Language of Leaves,' and practice the sacred protocol of asking before we harvest. It’s an invitation to step out of the busy modern world and back into the rhythm of the seasons, together.

A walk for everyone

Everyone is welcome in this circle. From the neighbor who simply wants to know what’s growing in their backyard to the seasoned herbalist looking for community and Indigenous-inspired perspectives. Our hope is to bring together a diverse group of people who are ready to rediscover the 'Language of Leaves' and explore their own personal path to purpose.

Empowerment through earth-skills

Our hope is that every participant will walk away with the confidence to identify at least three local edible or medicinal plants and the wisdom to harvest them ethically. We want you to feel empowered to bring these 'earth-skills' into your own homes. More importantly, we hope you feel a spark of curiosity to continue your education—perhaps by joining our more intensive workshops where we move from identification to the hands-on art of traditional basketry and herbal medicine making, or perhaps share a meal at a seasonal potluck, or commit to a deeper journey of self-discovery with one of our immersive retreats.

Beyond the trailhead: a unique journey

Most plant walks end at the trailhead, but ours is a doorway to a personal path. At Pathways, we incorporate our Indigenous background and survival training from Alderleaf to weave together ethnobotany, wilderness survival, and spiritual ceremony. We look at the plant not just as a resource, but as a partner in our Whole Health—mind, body, and spirit. Whether it’s discussing how a leaf becomes medicine or how its fibers become a basket, we focus on the deeper 'why' behind the wildcrafting.
